Therapeutic Goods Administration registration

Our at-home dried blood spot test kit is registered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods:

  • Classification: Medical Device, Class IIa
  • Product type: Procedure Pack (Phlebotomy kit)
  • Sponsor: Masdiag Pty Ltd, Oak Park, VIC 3046, Australia
  • Effective date: 5 May 2026

Intended purpose (as registered with the TGA)

The Masdiag Dried Blood Spot (DBS) Collection Kit is a procedure pack intended for use by healthcare professionals or self-collection by individuals to obtain capillary blood samples via fingerstick for subsequent laboratory analysis. The kit contains a sterile safety lancet for skin puncture, a CE-marked DBS collection card for sample deposition, alcohol swabs for skin preparation, a bandage, gauze, a desiccant pack and a biohazard return mailer. The collected dried blood spots are intended to be transported to an accredited clinical pathology laboratory for quantitative analysis of analytes such as fatty acid profiles, vitamin D, HbA1c and other biomarkers.

The kit is not intended to provide a diagnostic result at the point of collection; it is a sample collection device only.

Important health and clinical disclaimers

The Vitamin D Test service is an informational laboratory testing service. By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept the following:

  • The Service is not a diagnostic service. Test results provide measurements of vitamin D metabolites against established reference ranges, but do not diagnose any medical condition. Clinical diagnosis requires a qualified healthcare professional who can consider your full medical picture
  • We do not provide medical advice. Information on this website and within reports is for educational and informational purposes only. It does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare provider
  • We do not prescribe or recommend treatments, supplements, or interventions. Decisions about supplementation, medication, or lifestyle changes should be made by you in consultation with a qualified healthcare professional who knows your personal medical history
  • Test results should be interpreted in clinical context. A single test result is one data point among many that may inform your overall health assessment. We strongly recommend sharing significant results with your GP or specialist
  • The Service is not a substitute for emergency or urgent medical care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 000 (Australia) immediately. If you have urgent health concerns, contact your GP or healthcare provider
  • The Service does not screen for or detect any condition other than vitamin D status (and, on the Vitamin D Plus product, vitamin D metabolism via the Vitamin D Metabolite Ratio)

Pregnancy and special populations

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, immunocompromised, taking prescription medication, or managing a chronic health condition, we strongly recommend discussing both the testing and any results with your healthcare provider before changing your supplementation, diet, or medication.

Advertising claims and TGA compliance

We aim to comply with the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code and the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 in all advertising and product communications. We do not make therapeutic claims that are inconsistent with the registered intended purpose of our medical device.

Any educational content on this website (including blog articles, learn pages, and FAQ entries) is provided as general information about vitamin D and is based on published scientific literature and Australian and international clinical guidelines. It is not a representation that the Service will treat, cure, or prevent any specific condition.

Adverse event reporting

If you experience an adverse event in connection with our test kit (for example, an unexpected reaction to the lancet puncture, contamination of the collection device, or harm caused by use of the kit), please report it to us immediately:
